The fertility world comes with a host of terms and acronyms that can be overwhelming and confusing. I’ve compiled a list of most commonly used acronyms, terms and phrases to help you navigate and communicate to the best of your ability.
- 2WW: Two-week wait
- AF: Aunt Flow
- ART: Advanced Reproductive Technology
- BCP: birth control pills
- Beta: Blood test to determine pregnancy
- BD: Baby dance (sex)
- BFN: Big fat negative (pregnancy test result)
- BFP: Big fat positive (pregnancy test result)
- BW: Blood work
- CB: Cycle buddy
- CD: Cycle day
- CM: Cervical mucus
- DA: Doctor Appointment
- DH: Dear Husband or Darling Husband
- DPO: Days past ovulation
- DPIUI: Days past IUI
- DPO: Days Past Ovulation
- DPR: Days Past Retrieval
- DP3DT: Days Past Three Day Transfer
- DP6DT: Days Past 6 Day Transfer
- EW: Eggwhite (referring to the color of your cervical muscus)
- FET: Frozen embryo transfer
- FMU: First morning urine
- FRER: First Response Early Result pregnancy test
- FSH: follicle stimulating hormone
- Fx: Fingers crossed
- HPT: Home pregnancy test
- HCG:Human Chorionic Gonadotropin
- HSG: Hysterosalpingogram
